January 2024 Newsletter

Greetings all!

Happy New Year to all of our incredible members. We hope your time with friends and family was energizing and fulfilling. Jose and I have had a little time to rest, we spent time with family and now we are ready to get back to the farm. We are just two months away from getting the first crops started in the greenhouse and we can't wait. We also can't wait to share all of our exciting news with you.

We are growing again!

This year we are adding two new partners to the farm, we are increasing our bed space by nearly 50% and we are adding two more hoop houses for more indoor growing space. All of these additions will help us to provide you with a wider range of produce for a longer period of time.

Gearing up for 2024

The first week of January is always set aside to finish the farm plan and get the seeds ordered. Ordering our seeds early helps to ensure we have the best selection available and that we will be ready when planting season starts. We also did our last big tree order. This year we are focusing on plum and peach trees, but we are also adding some storage apples and a few more pears. After this year's planting we will have over 150 fruit trees planted at the farm and in a few years we should be able to provide you with most of your fruit needs throughout the summer and early fall, unless of course you were hoping for bananas and mangoes.

You can expect an email in the next few days with the 2024 sign up information. Jose and I are looking forward to serving you for another year. Package pricing will remain the same this season and we don't foresee an increase on pricing. In addition to our three standard packages, we are adding a larger share that we are calling the "Concierge Share." This share will get you a large seasonal vegetable share, a storage share, a freezer share and a few additional products we are producing right here on the farm. Additional info will be in your email and feel free to contact us with questions. We are also looking to add about 20 more members this next season. If you know someone who might be interested in membership please share our information with them. This farm has grown almost exclusively on your word of mouth and we appreciate everything you have done to help us grow.

We still have eggs and some storage items in the root cellar. We also have a few 5 pound bags of tomatoes in the freezer we would be willing to part with. We have paste tomatoes that would be great for making sauces or we have bags of cherry tomatoes that make an incredible roasted tomato soup. These are very limited.

Jose's Picture of the Month:

This picture looks like something taken last summer but Jose shot this a few days before Christmas. It's amazing how little snow we have had this year.

Recipe of the month:

We are overflowing with eggs this time of year so we are always looking for ways to use them up. Of course most of them go to our incredible members, some of them get cooked and fed back to the chickens, but we also love whipping up this recipe for breakfast...or lunch...or dinner...or all three!

Until next month - maximize life!!
